Who we are
The Navy JROTC program is one of the most transformative and comprehensive high school experiences, offering students a chance to earn valuable elective credits while fulfilling both the HOPE and Fine Arts graduation requirements. By completing two years in the program, joining an extra-curricular team, and maintaining a 2.0 GPA, cadets meet these graduation criteria—setting them up for success beyond high school.
What exactly is taught in class?
This program isn’t just about learning military drill and uniforms—it’s about developing the skills needed to thrive in life. From day one, cadets dive into leadership training that empowers them to take on increasing responsibilities and lead by example. Whether they’re mastering teamwork through marching drill, enhancing their focus with marksmanship training, or gaining practical life skills like public speaking, they are building the foundation for success in both their academic and personal lives.
The curriculum covers a range of key topics, including naval operations, seamanship, and maritime history, all while fostering a deep sense of discipline, responsibility, and civic duty. Cadets are also given opportunities to engage in community service, academic competitions, and physical fitness activities that prepare them for real-world challenges.
For those with a passion for drill, our 7th period Honors Military Drill & Ceremonies class offers a unique opportunity to travel across the state and compete at regional, state, and national levels. These high-level competitions give cadets the chance to refine their skills and show what it means to be a part of a team that aims for excellence.
What truly sets this program apart is its focus on holistic growth—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Throughout their time in JROTC, cadets gain invaluable life skills such as leadership, decision-making, and effective communication, all while building lifelong relationships with peers and mentors. And with increasing expectations each year, cadets are continuously challenged to push themselves further and achieve more.
Our mission is clear: we teach cadets the value of “Service to Others Above Self” while equipping them with the tools they need to succeed, whether they pursue college, enter the workforce, or decide to enlist in the military. While we don’t recruit for the military, completing 2-3 years of NJROTC can give students an edge in military service, offering automatic promotions and pay increases when they enlist.
This isn’t just a class—it’s a life-changing experience that builds the leaders of tomorrow. If you're looking for a program that will help you grow, lead, and succeed, the Navy JROTC program is the perfect place to start.
